Anne Zahalka, Fortresses and Frontiers

The new look of this issue takes account of a survey which we conducted earlier this year in which readers were asked how they would like to see the magazine being developed. While a larger number responded that it should remain the same, we will occasionally feature longer thematic essays on specific genres or topics. In this issue Roy Exley has contrasted the work of three European photographers - Miriam Backstrom (Sweden), Luisa Lambri and Elisa Sighicelli (Italy), and we feature a number of artists exhibiting in the UK - Anne Zahalka (Australia), Sharon Kivland, David Williams, Sam Taylor-Wood, Paul Seawright, Patricia Macdonald, Garry Fabian Miller, Jem Southam, Susanne Ramsenthaler, Keren Amiran, Marzena Porgorzaly, John Riddy and Peter Finnimore.
