In the second phase of Photo 98 - the UK Year of Photography and the Electronic Image - we feature new work by Joy Gregory and Zarina Bhimji, which explores our understanding of cultural identity in a time of political and economic change. We are delighted to feature new work by Sophie Calle in an inspired collaboration with the writer Paul Auster, and work by Sharon Kivland and Kate Mellor from their exhibitions in the Yorkshire region. We also present photographs by artist and film-maker Tracey Moffat (Australia), dramatic black-and-white images by Jorge Molder (Portugal), the compelling portraits of Detlef Henrichs (Germany) and photographic work by Yinka Shonibare, Dan Holdsworth, Mark Johnston, Robin Gillanders and Bryndis Snaebjornsdöttir.
