Maud Sulter Malheureusement, series of 3

This issue marks the first of the new and expanded PORTFOLIO. This has arisen out of a desire to create a completely new and distinctive type of publication, fusing the characteristics of both an exhibition catalogue and a specialist magazine. The format is larger and contains two distinct sections: 40 pages of colour and duotone plates, allowing images to be seen to their best advantage without the conflicting needs of text. The corresponding essays are presented separately, accompanied by photographs, and this is followed by reviews of major exhibitions taking place throughout the UK.

Our aim is to combine the new work of established artists with portfolios by young and emerging talent, in-depth essays and lively reviews, in a collectable publication published in June and December each year. We know that the high-quality photographic reproduction which has been a feature of PORTFOLIO in the past has been valued by our audience, and we are dedicated to extending this in the new publication.
